COURSE OVERVIEW

This course leads to a QBCC licence for Kitchen, Bathroom and Laundry installation, refurbish, restore and repairs. Become your own boss and take on licenced orientated renovations. The units in this course are derived from the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) CPC40120. They meet all current industry standards and reflect the skills and competencies you need to succeed in this industry.

OUTLINE

Install, refurbish, restore and repair a kitchen, bathroom or laundry on-site in:

  • class 1 or class 10 building
  • classes 2 to 9 buildings if the gross floor area of the kitchen, bathroom or laundry is not more than 50m².
  • Prepare plans and specifications that are:
    • for the licensee’s personal use, or
    • for use in building work to be performed by the licensee personally.

The minimum requirements to obtain a contractor’s or nominee supervisor’s licence are successful completion of the following units of competency from CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)

BSBESB407 – Manage finances for new business ventures

CPCCBC4002 – Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace

CPCCBC4003 – Select and prepare a construction contract

CPCCBC4004 – Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects

CPCCBC4006 – Select, procure and store construction materials for low-rise projects

CPCCBC4008 – Conduct on-site supervision of building and construction projects

CPCCBC4009 – Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects.

Four years experience in:

  • the licence class scope of work, or other work the commission is satisfied is at least equivalent to experience in the scope of work for the class.
  • 2 years’ experience in the scope of work (or equivalent), if you are qualified in one of the following:
  • bricklaying and blocklaying
  • carpentry
  • cabinetmaking
  • floor finishing and covering (hard sector)
  • glass, glazing and aluminium
  • joinery
  • painting and decorating
  • plastering drywall
  • plastering solid
  • plumbing and drainage
  • roof and wall cladding
  • roof tiling
  • shopfitting (trade)
  • structural landscaping (trade)
  • structural metal fabrication and erection
  • wall and floor tiling.

This course is ideal if you have experience in installing, refurbishing, restoring and repairing kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. Completing this course and attaining your licence could lead to great things in your career, such as running your own renovations business and taking on larger projects.

This course is 100% online.

You must demonstrate work where you carried out: supervisory services—the parts of the project and trades you personally supervised; examples where you applied your knowledge of building and other relevant legislation, interpreting plans and specifications.

  • administration services—examples of your experience on the job in tendering, contracts, on-site meetings and inspections, payment of subcontractors, issuing certificates and project management.
  • management services—examples of where you coordinated and scheduled work, resolved problems on the project, communicated with clients and other services and financial management.

Upon successful completion of this course. You will be awarded with a statement of attainment of units of competency in partial completion of the CPC40120 Certificate IV in building and construction (Building).
