The installation, adjustment and set-up of photovoltaic power systems and connecting to a supply grid inverter. It encompasses working safely and to installation standards, matching components with that specified for a given location, placing and securing system components accurately, making required circuit connections and completing the necessary installation documentation.

Must hold unrestricted electrical licence  for installation and apply to the Clean Energy Council for provisional accreditation and obtain the RIIWHS204D Work safely at heights.

This course is designed for licensed electricians, electrical engineers and solar enthusiasts who want to gain skills in the design and installation of grid-connected PV systems.
This course will also provide electrical tradesmen and engineers with the qualifications allowing them to obtain accreditation from the Clean Energy Council (CEC) granting access to incentives offered by the Federal Government for solar panel installations.
This course provides the skills to understand energy audits, design, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain grid-connected photovoltaic systems and the associated equipment.
You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

 Preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
 Solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
 Completing work and documenting problem-solving activities
 Preparing to design grid-connected power supply systems
 Developing grid-connected power supply systems design
 Obtaining approval for grid-connected power supply systems design
 Preparing to install photovoltaic power systems
 Installing photovoltaic power systems, and
 Completing and reporting on installation activities.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and self isolation measures being taken across the country. The cost of doing this course online for an individual is $1875.00. A deposit of $1500 is payable at enrolment and a further $375.00 is paid after enrolment. The balance of course fees are payable on completion of the course and prior to the issuance of a statement of attainment.
Training costs of $1875.00 is due at enrolment for employers who pay for their employee to do this course.

The approach to the delivery of this course is one of flexibility, designed for candidates who do not have the time to attend lengthy face-to-face courses or personnel who are unable to travel long distances to attend training centres. The fully flexible web-based format of the course allows students to complete the theory and practical tasks in their own time, allowing them to expand their knowledge and skills in the industry where it matters, on the job!

If it is not possible to perform the practical components of this course in your current workplace, the trainer will work with you to find a local Clean Energy Council accredited installer you can partner with to fulfill these elements.

About the trainer and assessor

Joel Greenbury has over 12 years’ experience working in the renewable energies sector and 20 years in the electrical industry. During this time, he designed and installed over 700 grid connected systems ranging from domestic, large scale commercial and off grid systems. He also conducted electrical auditing for solar and battery storage systems in south east Queensland.  With this wealth of knowledge and experience, Joel has been an electrical trainer and assessor within the electrical and renewable energies for over 6 years. Ranging from classroom-based training to online delivery, to working with a curriculum development team in writing the electro-technology apprenticeship package. Currently he is working in many different capacities, one of which is an Australian inverter manufacturing company where they design and engineer hybrid inverter and battery storage systems, the other is delivering and developing online curriculum in the renewable energy sector.
