CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

The General Construction Induction card provides new and existing workers with the basic understanding and knowledge needed to start or continue work within the building and construction industry.

CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is the approved WHS QLD course to obtain a white card. This is a 4-5 hour course based at Peregian Springs on the Sunshine Coast (RTO 40963). This is not an online course, training is face to face. You will be asked to produce the appropriate ID as listed below to establish your identity for the purposes to either find an existing or create a unique student identifier (USI) and for the issue of the White card. The enrolment form has a section for you to authorise me to create or find an existing USI (a verification email sent to confirm your booking lists what you need to bring on the day), payment can be made in cash or from your debit or credit card.

Evidence of identity (EOI) documents must be made up of three matching original EOI documents. A copy must be retained, excepting a financial institution debit/credit card, on the applicant’s file. You are required to keep a record that a debit/visa card was one of the original documents sighted. The three documents can be made up of:

One category A + two category B       OR      Two category A + one category B

At least one category A document must be photographic and show a full name and date of birth (DOB).

Category A documents Status
  • Australian Birth Certificate – full (not an Extract or a Commemorative Certificate)
  • Bicentennial Birth Certificate (born in 1988)
  • Australian Citizenship Certificate/Naturalisation Certificate
  • Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP)
  • Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status
  • Visa Evidence Card (with PLO56 Visa)
  • Queensland or Federal police officer photo identity

Queensland High Risk Work licence (photographic)

  • Australian Passport (including Australian Document of Identity)
  • Foreign Passport
  • Australian photo driver licence
  • Queensland Accreditation/Authorisation (laminated)
  • Driver/rider trainer; pilot/escort vehicle driver; dangerous goods driver; tow truck driver/assistant certificate

Bus; taxi; limousine driver

Current or expired less than two years
DIBP – ImmiCard; Temporary or Resident Visa; Document for travel to Australia. Note: Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is not accepted. Valid up to five years after

In circumstances where a student cannot provide the above specified identification, the RTO should contact the Office of Industrial Relations for advice.

About the Course

On the day you receive a workbook with information and assessment activities which is used throughout the course as well as a copy of the Work Health Safety Act 2011. There are 4 sections to the workbook, there are written theory and practical questions, multi-choice, oral questions, video and practical demonstration of selecting and wearing PPE . You are guided and assisted throughout the entire course and encouraged to ask questions at any time before, during and after the course.

Cost of training

The full cost of training per person is $100.00 non funded.  A confirmation email is sent to approve your booking.

CSQ funding eligibility

If you are eligible for CSQ funding, you will pay $30.00 towards the cost of training which is paid at enrolment. CSQ funding amount of $100.00 is paid to the RTO by CSQ. You must establish eligibility for CSQ funding prior to enrolment.

Staysafe will review your submission to see if you meet the criteria, if further information is required, you will be contacted. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be notified ahead of your course day. If you don’t meet the eligibility criteria, you will also be advised prior to your course day.


I require 24 hours notice prior to the booking date should you want to change your booking or cancel. Refunds are made in relation to the refunds policy and procedure which is available on this website or in the student handbook. Courses are held on the third weekend of the month. Replacement White card

In the event a person has successfully completed:

  • CPCCWHS1001 ‘Prepare to work safely in the construction industry’, or
  • CPCCOHS1001A ‘Work safely in the construction industry’ (previous QLD Course), And;
  • Whose card has been declared lost, stolen or destroyed, and
  • The RTO that originally issued the card is no longer operating;

Then another RTO must issue a replacement card upon the card holder supplying a statement of attainment to the RTO and declaring if the card was lost, stolen, or destroyed. The declaration can be made in the way of completion of a replacement form supplied by the RTO.

A replacement White card will cost $40.00.

On completion of each section, you and the trainer and assessor is required to sign and date that section before going on to another section. Once all sections of the workbook are complete, we go back to the front of the book to do the final sign off. It is at this point when all assessment activities have been completed that a final result of competent or not yet competent is achieved. If re-assessment is required, this is indicated on the assessment cover sheet. There are two opportunities for re-assessment, however, re-assessment occurs on the same day. Finally, you will be asked to complete a survey and give Staysafe a review on facebook or google.

A statement of attainment on successful completion is sent out to you initially via email within a few days of completing the course as well as a blank copy of the workbook if requested.
