How to Secure Training Funding with Keystone Tasmania

Navigating the process of securing funding for training can be daunting, but with this streamlined guide, you’ll be well-equipped to take advantage of the opportunities provided by Keystone Tasmania.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for Keystone Tasmania funding, ensure that your business meets the following criteria:

  • Operates in the Right Sector: Your principal activity must be on-site building and construction work or joinery.
  • Holds a Current ABN: Your business needs a valid Australian Business Number.
  • Pays for Training: You should cover the cost of training for your employees or for yourself if you’re a sole trader or partnership.

Note: Labour hire companies, non-construction professions, and employees residing outside Tasmania are not eligible.

Eligible Training

Keystone Tasmania can fund a wide range of training options, including:

  • Non-accredited and accredited courses up to the Advanced Diploma level.
  • Training provided by Keystone-approved providers, including Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and suitably qualified trainers.
  • Courses delivered in-person, online, or through a hybrid model.
  • Training specific to the building and construction industry.

Ineligible Training

Certain types of training are not eligible for funding, including:

  • Apprenticeships and qualifications already subsidized by other sources.
  • One-on-one coaching, site-specific training, and training for specific products or services.

Funding Process

Follow these steps to apply for Keystone Tasmania funding:

1. Submit Your Application:

  • Apply through the Keystone Tasmania website at least three business days before your training starts.

2. Provide Evidence Post-Training:

  • Upload proof of successful training completion, cost payment, and a tax invoice from the provider within 60 days after training.

Important: Retrospective applications are not accepted.

Funding Calculation

Rebates can be calculated based on:

  • A percentage of the training cost.
  • A fixed rate per course or an hourly/daily rate.

Ensure your application is complete and approved before committing to any training.

Review and Appeals

If you need to review a decision:

1. Request a review from the Chief Executive Officer.

2. If dissatisfied, appeal to the Chair of the Board for a final review.
