For individuals wishing to become pool safety inspectors in Queensland, you must complete the NAT11067001 Conduct a pool safety inspection course, before being able to apply for your licence through the Queensland Building and Construction Commission. 

Course Deposit: $150 

Full Course fee: $1470

Course delivery: The theory component of 11067NAT course is delivered via ZOOM webinar with Jacqui over 2.5 days. This is not a self paced course. At the end of the theory training, students will be required to undertake the practical component of this course where you are given up to 6 months to return your completed practical assessment.

A statement of attainment will be issued upon the successful completion of both the theory and practical components of this course.

The accredited unit NAT11067001 Conduct a pool safety inspection is being delivered through a third party arrangement. The Accredited Pool Safety Inspector Courses (APSIC) - Trainer Jacqui Murphy will be recruiting, enrolling and delivering this course to you on behalf of Staysafe Industry Training, RTO 40963.


Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded with a Statement of attainment

Become a Pool Safety Inspector in Queensland:

This course is for any individual who is wanting to pursue a career in the important industry of pool safety. This industry was established to save lives of young children. Did you know that drowning in the backyard swimming pool is one of the leading causes of accidental death for children under the age of five?

Prerequisites:

There are no pre-requisite requirements for enrolment in this course, therefore this course is open to any individual wishing to conduct inspections of pool barriers and issue pool safety certificates.

Course outcomes:

During the course you will learn the pool safety laws relevant to Queensland and how to apply these laws when conducting pool safety inspections of a pool barrier, prior to issuing a pool safety certificate or non-conformity notice.

The following information will be covered during the course with you over the 2.5 days:

  • Plan for your inspection 
  • Use the Pool Safety Register to issue Pool Safety Certificates
  • Read and interpret legislation including the Building Act 1975
  • Apply and interpret the pool safety standard in deciding whether a pool is compliant
  • Report on inspection outcomes in the manner and timeframe required by legislation
  • Provide recommendations on how to achieve compliance when barrier is noncompliant
  • Keep records of inspections in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Gather and maintain evidence appropriately including photos and video
  • Notify local government within required timeframe of any failure of the pool owner to request a reinspection

In addition to the above, we also want to assist you in ensuring you set up your business for the most successful outcome. Our expert trainer will also provide you with the following:

  • Videos to watch after the course demonstrating how to conduct inspections of barriers (eg testing pool gates etc)
  • Pool safety inspectors booking sheet to prepare for your inspection and use with your clients
  • Pool Safety Inspector’s checklist for conducting inspections
  • QDC MP 3.4 diagrams to include on your nonconformity notices

Jacqui Murphy is the most experienced trainer in the delivery of the 11067NAT Course, having delivered this course across Queensland since the industry commenced in December 2010. 

Jacqui’s experience has also extended to NSW where she was accredited by the NSW Building Professionals Board to deliver the E1 Pool Safety Course to persons wishing to become Accredited E1 Swimming Pool Certifiers and to Victoria where she has also delivered the VBAISP2020 course to people wishing to become licensed Pool Safety Inspectors in Victoria.
