Solar - About Clean Energy Council

The Clean Energy Council is the peak body for the clean energy industry in Australia. They are a not-for-profit, membership-based organisation representing and working with Australia’s leading renewable energy and energy storage businesses, as well as rooftop solar installers, to advance clean energy in Australia.

Accreditation with the Clean Energy Council recognises individuals who have undertaken training in designing and installing solar, batteries, and other renewable energy systems. CEC-accredited installers and designers adhere to industry best practice standards, ensuring systems are safe, reliable, and meet customer expectations.

Installers can apply for different types of accreditation, reflecting the various work and responsibilities in the industry. The right accreditation is crucial for eligibility for government rebates.

Types of CEC Accreditation:

  • Grid-connect Design Only: For those who want to design grid-connected solar systems.
  • Grid-connect Install Only: For installing grid-connected solar systems; requires an unrestricted electrical license.
  • Grid-connect Design and Install: For both designing and installing grid-connected solar systems; an unrestricted electrical license is required.
