New Accreditation Exam to Replace Case Study for Solar Installers from 1 July 2025

If you’re planning to get accredited through the Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) Scheme, there’s a big change you need to know about.

From 1 July 2025, the traditional case study assessment will be replaced by a new online Accreditation Exam. This marks a major shift in how solar and battery installers across Australia will demonstrate their knowledge and competence.

Why the Change?

SAA is rolling out this new approach to:

  • Strengthen the overall integrity of the accreditation scheme

  • Ensure all installers meet a clear, consistent competency benchmark

  • Eliminate the provisional accreditation period

  • Create a faster, more flexible pathway to full accreditation

What is the Accreditation Exam?

The Accreditation Exam is a multiple-choice test completed online via the SAA CPD Hub. It focuses on real-world knowledge, asking you to apply your understanding of Australian Standards and best practices relevant to the type of installations you work on.

It’s designed to be more efficient and focused than the case study—and offers immediate results.
