Who should do this course?

A QBCC (Queensland Building and Construction Commission) trade contractor's license is required for individuals and businesses who wish to legally perform building work in Queensland where the total value of the work exceeds $3,300 (including materials and labor). The license is necessary for a wide range of trades, including but not limited to:

Carpenters
Electricians
Plumbers
Tilers
Painters
Bricklayers
Concreters
Roofers
Cabinet makers
Air-conditioning and refrigeration mechanics

If the work is of a structural nature or involves a regulated trade, and the total value exceeds the threshold, the person or company performing the work must hold a QBCC trade contractor's license. Additionally, if a business contracts others to perform building work, they also need to be licensed.

It’s important to note that certain exemptions may apply, such as when an individual is working directly as an employee of a licensed contractor rather than as an independent contractor or business owner. However, for those running their own business or subcontracting, the license is essential.
