To support this, Powering Australia has launched the Battery Workforce Skills and Training Grants Program, helping businesses upskill their teams in critical battery-related roles.
Through this program, eligible businesses can access up to $30,000 in funding to subsidise battery training.

Claim Up to 50% Off Battery Storage Training
The BWST Training Grant supports businesses operating in, or entering, the battery value chain to build workforce capability and improve safety.
Eligible businesses may access:
- Up to $30,000 in funding per business
- Up to 50% of course fees and training materials
- Battery-specific training delivered by approved providers
- Support for businesses across installation, manufacturing, servicing, and related sectors
Who This Funding Is For
This grant is designed for Australian businesses working in the battery value chain, including:
- Solar companies expanding into battery storage
- Electrical contractors installing battery systems
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installers
- Energy, infrastructure, and EV-related businesses
- Organisations transitioning into clean energy
To be eligible, your business must:
- Be registered in Australia with a valid ABN
- Employ staff working in, or entering, the battery sector
- Propose training that builds battery capability and improves safety

How the Grant Process Works
- Submit an Expression of Interest through Powering Australia
- Nominate StaySafe Industry Training as your provider
- Complete a full application if eligible
- Receive funding for up to 50% of training costs
- Complete your Battery Storage training
The program uses a two-stage application process and is designed to build a national pipeline of skilled battery workers while improving safety outcomes.
Important Eligibility Notes
- Funding applies to new training only
- Training must be battery-specific and industry-relevant
- Does not cover travel, accommodation, or wages
- Applications are assessed through a competitive, merit-based process
- Funding is available until 2027 or until exhausted
Important: If you or your team are already enrolled in our Battery Storage course, this grant cannot be applied to those participants.
